Marwood Unique Flooring

Website kickoff · with Abelomega AI

All done

Cuñis! I'm building your new website and want it to sound like the real Marwood, not a generic flooring site. We're starting with the fun part: your reaction to the preview I built you. Five quick questions, no homework, no wrong answers. Everything saves as you go, so you can stop after those five and come back whenever you want, right where you left off. The rest (your species, finishes, process, projects) is here whenever you're ready, and nothing gets invented: whatever you tell me is what goes on the site. First, here's what I already have, so I never ask you twice: • Business name: Marwood Unique Flooring (Instagram: @marwoodhtx) • Builders you've worked with, tagged in your own posts: Aspire Fine Homes, Metropolitan Custom Homes, Harvard Homes, Eterno Builders • Designers tagged in your posts: Scene One Interiors (Bunker Hill Village project), Amanda Simmons Interiors • Neighborhoods with projects on your Instagram: Spring Branch, Bunker Hill Village, Houston Heights, Oak Forest, Hilshire Village • The agreed build: $3,000 for the website (includes the cinematic scroll film and the SEO/GEO content cluster), plus a $150/month Care Plan that starts once the site launches, not before Is any of that wrong?
I'm excited, this is so cool. Great job so far.
Let's start with the enjoyable stuff, and it's all just your opinion, so there are no wrong answers. Five quick ones about the look of the preview you already have at marwood.abelomega.com. If you stop after this section that's genuinely fine, everything saves as you go. Gut reaction to the preview at marwood.abelomega.com: nailed it, close but needs tweaks, or not the direction? One word is a perfectly good answer.
For the most part those are all correct, there are more designers as well as other areas I'd like to include like the Big Easy Ranch, Round Top, etc
What's the one thing you'd change first? (If your answer above was "nailed it," just say nothing and we'll move on.)
The overall design of the website is fantastic, I love the color scheme as well as the font, etc. There are a few details I'd like and that are small but equally as important which I'm sure we will get into
The preview leans near-black with a warm oak accent. Is that the right feel for Marwood, or would you rather it went lighter, warmer, or in a different direction entirely?
Yes, I like and approve of the warm oak accent. I like the overall feel of the website. I find inspiration in this flooring company in the UK. I'd like to follow something very similar to this on the main page. Meaning when you scroll down on the fist page, the slab to flooring concept comes to life. https://www.havwoods.com/us/
Pick two or three words that should describe your site to a designer who lands on it: warm, clean, bold, quiet, modern, classic, luxurious, rugged, rich, simple. Or use your own words.
simple yet rich. Warm and classic yet luxurious
Last one for this section: a website whose look you like. Any industry at all, it doesn't have to be flooring. Paste the address, or just name the brand ("I like how Restoration Hardware's site feels" works fine). If nothing comes to mind, say skip and I'll bring you options instead.
https://www.havwoods.com/us/
Got it — Havwoods is a great reference, thanks for sharing that. First, the basics: your name, phone, address, and the neighborhoods you serve. This is what helps Google show your business to the right people nearby (that's called SEO, short for search engine optimization), and it's how AI tools like ChatGPT learn who to recommend. What's the exact business name, phone, and address (or is it service-area-only, no public address)? Email and hours too, if you'd like those listed.
MARWOOD Unique Flooring. Neighborhoods - The greater Houston areas but specializing in areas like Tanglewood, River Oaks, Garden Oaks, Bunker Hill Village, Round Top, The Woodlands, etc
Your service area: I have River Oaks, Memorial, Tanglewood, Bunker Hill, and Hunters Creek on the list, plus maybe The Woodlands. Is that right, and is there anywhere I'm missing?
Round Top Texas, Greater Uptown, Spring Valley Village, West University Place
How many years have you been in business, or what year did you found Marwood? And how long have you personally been doing this work?
MARWOOD has been in business 2 years. I have personally been doing this work for 13 years
Two years in, thirteen years of experience — that’s a solid foundation. Now the wood itself: the species, widths, patterns, and any brands you install. The more specific you are here (real names, not just 'nice wood'), the more it reads as expert, not generic. Which species do you install most: white oak, European oak, walnut, something else?
European White Oak, French Oak, Walnut, Red Oak and Exotic Woods
Great mix — European and French oak, walnut, red oak, and exotics gives a clear picture of your range. Do you do solid, engineered, or both? When do you steer a client toward engineered?
both
And when do you steer a client toward engineered?
9 times out of 10
What plank widths and lengths do you typically use? Do you do wide-plank? Any patterns, like herringbone or chevron?
Mostly wide plank but any plank size really. Yes we do specialty patterns like the ones you mentioned as well as special parquet patters as well as custom patters
What textures or treatments do you offer: wire-brushed, hand-scraped, smoked, live-sawn?
We offer all however most of the material we install is prefinished
Do you source from specific mills or brands? Some have authorized-installer programs worth naming if you're part of one.
We do use specific brands and mills however we'd like to not display those on the website as of today
This is about the finish on top of the wood, the coating that protects it and gives it that final look. Naming the exact products you use shows designers and builders you're a real specialist. What finish systems do you use? Bona (which products, like Bona Traffic HD)? WOCA oil? Rubio? A custom stain?
We use Bona, WOCA, Duraseal , Loba-Wakol, Pallmann, Glitsa, etc
Are your jobs site-finished, prefinished, or both?
voth
Got it — both site-finished and prefinished, that’s clear. Do you offer low or zero-VOC finishes? That matters to green-minded designers and architects.
yes we do
Great, that's a big plus for eco-conscious clients. Are you certified or trained by any finish brand, like Bona or WOCA?
Yes, by all except woca
This is the big one: how you prepare a Houston home for wood floors before a single board goes down. Houston's humidity, and the fact that most homes here are slab-on-grade (built right on a concrete slab, no basement), make this trickier than most places, and almost nobody explains their process online. Your real answers here become the single most valuable page on your whole site. Walk me through your process on a slab-on-grade Houston home, start to finish.
We install hardwood floors on all types of slabs. Concrete slabs, pier and beam foundations. We install floors using hardwood flooring adhesives systems as well as tar screed decking , etc
What would a client see step by step on a typical slab-on-grade job in Houston, from the first visit to the final walkthrough?
The preparation might be the single most important and the most underrated part of the process. Getting a slab prepped accordingly is extremely important
How do you test moisture? What meters or tests do you use, and what readings do you require before installing?
We use digital moisture readers as well as Calcium Chloride Tests
Do you install a moisture or vapor barrier? What kind?
sometimes yes
What's your acclimation protocol: how many days, and what HVAC settings during that time?
I'm not sure I'd like to add many moisture related content as this could hold us reliable if anything went wrong regarding moisture issues
Why do you recommend engineered over solid for certain Houston homes?
9 times out of 10 yes. Especially in the houston area as well as the greater texas area. Both are fantastic options though
Any horror stories of floors that failed because someone skipped one of these steps? That kind of story makes the process real to a reader.
Yes plenty but not any I'd like to share of the website
Any certificates, memberships, or licenses you hold go here. Think of these as badges: they're what makes a builder, or an AI search tool, trust you faster before they've even met you. Are you an NWFA member? That's the National Wood Flooring Association, the industry's main certifying body. Are you NWFA Certified Professional or Certified Installer?
I am not. Not yet
Noted. And "not yet" is a good answer — no need to pretend. Bona Certified Craftsman? WOCA-trained or approved applicator? Any manufacturer authorized-installer status?
Yes. None are official meaning we have a physical certificate. howeber, we've used these products hundreds of times
Are you licensed, insured, and bonded? (Just a confirm, this is a trust baseline for the site.)
yES
Any awards, features, or press coverage?
not yet
Noted — it's honest and that makes the site feel genuine. Same idea as the last section, just for professional groups you belong to. If you're not sure about any of these, just say so, I only publish what's true. Are you a member of GHBA, the Greater Houston Builders Association? Or TAB, the Texas Association of Builders?
No but we will be by the end of the year
Exciting that you'll be a member by year's end! Any designer-side affiliation, like ASID Texas Gulf Chapter? NARI? BBB? Houzz Pro?
no not yet
Noted — no affiliations yet. Nothing wrong with that. Now your best work. The more specific, the neighborhood, the builder, the wood, the size of the job, the more it reads as real rather than stock photos. This is also where I'll ask permission to name the builders and designers you've worked with, which matters a lot to the kind of client you're trying to reach. Top 5-6 projects you're proudest of: for each one, the neighborhood, the builder or designer, the species, plank width, finish, and roughly how many square feet.
This is something I'd like to discuss with Gaby so we can compare the projects vs the quality of photos we have, etc
No problem if you'd rather skip, but this one really shapes the site: Top 5-6 projects you're proudest of: for each one, the neighborhood, the builder or designer, the species, plank width, finish, and roughly how many square feet. (say "skip" again and we'll move on.)
Not is this order but these are the few - 1. Cedarspur 2. E 7th St. Valley Forge Dr. E 12th St. Fries St. Also, I am not sure yet if I'd like to name my builders and designers on the website. I need to give that some thought
Any Tanglewood, Memorial, or River Oaks projects that never made it onto Instagram? River Oaks especially, since it would unlock a page I can't build yet.
Yes those are all neighborhoods we work in and not all make social media. Some are simply easier to photograph, etc
I pulled some photos from your Instagram to get a head start on your site. These next few are just me getting the story behind them right, so I understand the whole picture and never put up anything you're not good with. For the projects I'd showcase, are you good with me using all of them on the site, or are there some you'd rather I leave off? No need to dig up any files here, the photos are handled between you and Gabriela, so I'll sort those with her directly.
Yes, we'd like to separate those by project on our "our work" part of the website similar like we have on IG
What was your role on the Hunters Creek Village job that showed up in Eterno Builders' feed? I want to confirm before I claim it as your project.
We provide and installed all of the hardwood flooring on the project including the staircase
You supplied and installed all the hardwood, staircase included — noted. Do I have your OK to name the builders you've worked with (Aspire Fine Homes, Metropolitan Custom Homes, Harvard Homes, Eterno Builders) and the designers (Scene One Interiors, Amanda Simmons Interiors) on the site?
Not yet, I need to give that some thought
You don't have any written reviews from designers or builders yet, and that's completely normal this early. This part is just a permission ask, not something for you to write right now. I'd like to pre-draft a short quote for a couple of the designers and builders you've worked with, and just have you tell me who to send them to for their approval. Are you OK with me running that after we get into launch prep? (If yes, no need to write anything now, just say yes.)
yes
Got it — you're fine with pre-drafting that quote for the designers and builders. Last one: a couple of quick reassurances that help a cautious buyer feel safe hiring you. Do you offer a warranty or workmanship guarantee? How long does it last?
Yes I can pre-draft an email requesting a review from our closest designers and builders. Yes we order limited lifetime warranties and limited installation warranties
Confirming you're insured and bonded: comfortable sharing the coverage level, or just a yes/no is fine?
Yes we are but no need to share the coverage level unless it is requested
You're insured and bonded, and prefer not to list the coverage level. One last thing about photos: just tell me what exists here, don't try to send any files through this chat. What photos do you already have: finished projects, before/afters, job-site shots, your logo file? Just list what exists, you'll send the actual files to Abel directly by email or a shared folder, not here.
Yes we do have before and after photos. I will get with Gaby so we can hand pick what photos and projects we'd like on the site
Almost done. These last few aren't about facts, they're me asking your permission on two judgement calls, so I build what you actually want and never put anything untrue on your site. Earlier you said you'd rather keep moisture content off the site in case it made Marwood liable, and I want to respect that completely. Here's a middle path I'd like a yes or no on. A page that names your methods (calcium chloride testing, digital moisture meters, adhesive systems, tar screed decking, and how much slab prep matters) but publishes no required readings, no acclimation day counts, no HVAC settings, and promises no outcome. Methods only, never numbers, never a guarantee. Does that version work for you, or would you rather we leave moisture off the site entirely?
yes
Was that a yes to the methods-only page, or to leaving moisture off completely?
methods only
Methods only it is — I'll keep the page safe with no numbers or guarantees. Would you be open to picking up a couple of credentials this year? Two of them are just an annual fee with no test and no coursework: NWFA membership (the National Wood Flooring Association, around $599 a year) and GHBA Associate membership (the Houston builders association your exact clients belong to, $889 a year, which also covers the state TAB membership in the same dues). Yes, no, or tell me later is all I need.
yes I am interested
You're interested in both memberships. Last one, and it's just me double-checking so nothing untrue goes on your site. You said you're trained on Bona, Duraseal, Loba-Wakol, Pallmann and Glitsa but don't hold physical certificates. So I'll write it as "we work in" those systems rather than "certified in" them. Is that the right way to say it, or would you word it differently?
We work with*
That's everything I needed. Thank you, seriously. Abel takes it from here.

That's it, you're done.

Abel has everything he needs to start designing. If anything else comes to mind, just text him.
